A truly spectacular event held each year in the city of Florence that showcases new release wines (some brought their 2018s, some, deciding to hold them a while, their 2017s) from this very important growing region. A two-day tasting here in Firenze, before moving the following day to San Gimignano to taste the new releases of Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

Med/med+ body, with good acidity, but slightly off-center on balance - today, this is obviously very young. Shows good length, depth, though nothing exciting just now. Revisit in a year.   Bright ruby/bricked red, clear. Woods, fruit and soil driven nose with character of place, and variety. Medium/med+ body, with lovely tension, depth, and breadth; an instant winner in the mouth.   Bright, translucent. Pretty, soil and red-fruit nose; already I'm interested. Tension, character, and good structure. A touch of cherry cough drop in this early moment, but clearly this is a wine I like and would purchase, if available. Drink 2022-2037. highly recommended

  It's only 1pm here in Florence (in the middle of winter), and yet recent temps have this otherwise very cool building showing at a greatly higher than normal level - thus this wine is showing some more EtOH than others might encounter. That said, the aromas/flavors show decent, average typicity, but I'm wondering if the acids (if at a more ideal temperature) might let this show more/better character? Terrible review, I know, but the best I can do today. To revisit.

The palate is really traditional, with vibrant, fresh acidity, and a med(-)/med body. The length is curtailed by its youth at the moment.   Classic brick red, clear, bright, with significant watery edge. Initial aromas combine some high-toned red berry, soil, and a touch of wood. Some pine, and citrus add considerable interest. Highly traditional in the mouth, with searing acids, a traditional frame, and classic lines. I really like this, which is to say those looking for a mouthful of fruit and creamy oak will want to stay away. A joy, but will require some years before it enters its preferred plateau.   High-toned red berry fruits. Medium, round, and juicy body. This isn't appealing to me, as I find the build to be a bit blowsy; too easy to enjoy, and one for early consumption. Not to my palate, but most should like this for its gentle, round nature. Drink 2021-2033; I like it for the style, but would not seek it out. recommended

  Elegant, subtle power, and cheeky length. Lovely, and right in my wheelhouse. I only wish I could find it more often.   Generous, round, lifted, but I'm not finding much to get excited about - today. This riserva is way young, and this address is well known for top quality, so I say revisit in 4-6 years to get a better/proper feel for this wine. That said, the finish is nearly a minute.   If earthy can be (is?) sexy, this wine is sexy. Loads of soil notes, with red (mostly) and some darker red fruits. It's a wine I could smell all night. Medium body, plenty of fresh, exciting acidity, and such fine detail all leading to a long, long finish. A true beauty, wow. Drink 2021 (with 2 hours of air) -2045. highly recommended+

Finish is medium, acids are good, and tannins are already integrated. Not to my taste, though most will greatly enjoy. For the style, it's easily recommended. Drink now thru 2029.

  Holy smokes this is delicious. Loads of acids, ripe red berries, some toast, raspberry, etc. Med/me finish that will no doubt improve with time. This is well-judged, and a great pleasure; super fine, sweet tannins. Almost meditative. highly recommended

  Woodsy, herbal spice, ripe red fruits, lovely. Already offering a long finish, avg+ complexity, and a round, sweet tannin finish. However, I'm finding this a bit foursquare. Highly enjoyable for most, not something I gravitate toward. For the style, structure, it's highly recommended. Drink now thru 2042.

  I'm digging the nose, with its herbal flirtations, but the palate is a bit muddled just now. Not sure it's going to find its center. That said, plenty will greatly enjoy the succulent red berry middle, and avg/avg+ final. For the style, I suppose it's recommended

  A freshly opened bottle that was less than thrilling. Lots of base soil notes at first; just didn't develop as I felt it should. Perhaps a less than perfect bottle. A correct bottle, in say 5-6 more years, should be very good, at least. Based upon past experiences with this producer, this is, at least, recommended

I was hoping to see a few more 2018s, but knowing the quality of the vintage, I agree with many that will let them rest another year before showing them/releasing them to the public. 2019 is a very good vintage, too, fyi.
