  A beautifully elegant and humble chard showing ripe pear, whiffs of tropical fruit and a splash of lemon juice. Along with mineral layers there is also melted butter adding depth. The palate has nice acidity and freshness, amazingly crisp actually, with a buttery texture that adds density and gravitas. First time having this and this surpassed my expectations and on a par with the 2016.

I’ve had this head to head vs the Raveneau Blanchot 2015 (93 pts) and the Donatsch won it thanks to more substance, an equally high precision, very good freshness to cut through the beautiful creaminess. A true success in a hot year. My guess is that this will probably age not as good as some more classicly shaped vintages and hence is probably best to drink over the next 5 to 10 years.
  
  Decanting: This needs a bit of air to get there. I would decant it for at least an hour.

  No notes taken. I’ve had this a few weeks earlier and it showed brilliantly (94+ pts), so delicate and airy, superbly pure and floral. A big promise. This bottle showed again exactly the same characteristics but had much less of everything. This wine needs some serious cellaring. Hold on to your bottles for at least 5 more years.
