Solid WA Syrah, although I agree that the chalk aspect to the palate is a bit heavier than I would have liked. Is that the concrete? In any case, it tamps down the black fruit and provides some balance. Not sure I’d buy again, but it is interesting to drink.

Sleight of Hand Zoom tasting, dinner pairing and magic show. This wine was very good. Decanted one bottle for about 30 minutes and opened another bottle at about 1 hour. Both had some Washington funk aromas. Bright fruits with very lively acidity, the decanted bottle slightly less acidity and a bit softer but the PnP drank great right from the start as well and I actually liked it better at PnP with the spicy food. According to Trey, all Lewis Vineyard and partial concrete tanks which gave it a lot of the lively acidity. We all liked this a lot although some on the Zoom seemed to miss the more fruit forward version from past years. This was an excellent paring with a spicy jalapeño, serrano and yogurt marinated grilled chicken kabobs. Incredible quality for the price and great food wine.

On day two it shows savory and balanced, with nice notes of smoked meat, olive tapenade, and salinity balancing dark cherry and bousenberry.

Way slow to open up. Shoulda known. Les Collins fruit is slow to develop. Drink date starting in ‘24 would be more appropriate.
