Very good experience with my first Morgon. Well structured Wine with good, fresh tannic grip and deep flavour profile dominated by bitter cherries with black, slightly sweet Finnish liquorice in the background. Also a highly pleasant ethanol character comes through in good balance with the other elements. Wine is apparently very lightly sulphured, as I do not detect sulphur flavour, and oak is very discretely in the background true to the style. Wine was decanted back and forth a couple of times during two hours before I enjoyed it. You get good value for your money with this one!

Gee this is closed up on night one! Even after a two hour decant. I’m looking forward to having another glass tomorrow. Same scoring range as last bottle. An ear infection has knocked off a point or two I reckon.

Medium body, bright purple color. Red fruits and flowers aroma. Dominant bitter cherry palate and herbal finish. Very good Beaujolais, complex and well balanced, a bit metallic acidity and vague tannins. Food friendly, well pairing with crown beef . Open one hour ahead. Serve 14º - 18º. Drink now while young and next couple years.

2018 Morgon by Drouhin is a serious wine with upside. Quite meaty, chewy and savoury tannins, some dusty oak, and lovely waxy red cherry fruit with green herbs and flowers. Firm medium body, sappy, and mouth filling. As my dear friend noted, it needs time to open up.
Liquorice, black pepper, length. Violet candy length.
For me, Morgon is when Pinot Noir met Syrah. Sappy, leafy and translucent. But meats and pepper.
3.5/5 or 91-92 on night one. Drink now to 3 years for me.

Exuberant, fresh and ripe. I’d not want to age this any longer as I fear it would become prune flavoured.
13.5%, cork (remarkable cork, almost looked plastic).
