  • Much cleaner then most TN's here. While there is definitely an old world traditional character this was spot on with dark blueberry concentrated fruit intermixed with complex aromatics of old library leather and dust and buried deep some notes of wet cedar clove and exotic spice. Great right out of the bottle but gave this a quick decant for light sediment and it got even better after about 10 minutes of air. A perfect foil for grilled lamb chops with a velvety smoothness of an aged wine and a nice frame of acid backbone which kept it all together focused and tense. If you like aged traditional CDP this would definitely remind you of such. Easily the best bottle to date of this wine but consistency has not been as solid over the years so maybe we just got lucky with this one. bottles like this one should drink great for another 3-5 years easily but you take your chances.

  • This was downright stinky and poopy upon opening, tough and shrill, but with 1h15m in the decanter and a slight chill it blossomed into a feral, dark, and dirty beauty, wood-roasted eggplant, black juicy plums, BBQ chips, smoke, charcoal, blackberry compote, leather, and a little bandaid. Reminds me a little bit of early 90's Pradeaux but with some other grapes (Grenache?) thrown in, and thus prettier.

Contrary to what someone said below, I enjoyed this more than the two old Junquets bottlings I've had. Delicious and with lots of spunk, this was a great match with a porcini mushroom and garlic (white) pizza.

  • Fully mature, or perhaps slightly past. Good Mourvedre fruit. Not the opulence I remember from its youth or of comparably aged Bandols from good producers, but tasty, earthy, and should pair very well with a mock cassoulet with leftover turkey and some chicken kielbasa.

  • Initially smelled like a top Beaujolais then started taking on a more funky, earthy Mourvèdre nose. Medium bodied and kind of a moving target. At once fruity then earthy then hot then meaty. Alot going on here. Pretty nice wine for $13.

(Dr. Parce CLOS DU MOULIN) Dr. Parce (Domaine du Mas Blanc) Dear Friends, I’ve said it many times but timing is everything... I had already decided to offer this wine to you at a cut-rate price as a Friday special next week but it was just reviewed in the WA and all bets are off from a demand standpoint (what was an easy wine to get last week is now anything but). I thought about retracting my “special” but that is completely against our philosophy, so, before I realize what I’m doing.... Dr. Parce has been one of my favorite sources for enigmatic wine of individual proportions for years and the 2004’s are (as a group) one of the best vintages in the last decade. These are wines of character, drive and charm unlike any other portfolio from France (if tannic Mouvedre and soil can be charming?). Highly desirable and (due to my temporary bout with insanity) at a crazy tariff until we run out: VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for all the right reasons ONE SHIPMENT ONLY at this price with perfect provenance 2004 Domaine du Mas Blanc (Dr. Parce) Collioure “Clos du Moulin” Thank you, Jon Rimmerman Garagiste Seattle, WA SOFR9897
