  • Informal business lunch, no detailed notes. A very good sweet wine of the Grande Dame of Swiss wines (occupies 11 of the best 15 and the entire top 8 of Parker’s highest scoring Swiss wines). Drunk alongside the 2015 Petit Arvine Grain Noble sweet wine from Chappaz. Both wines show a wonderful aromatic profile, not as racy and spicy as a good Yquem but with a great purity of fruit (apricots, quince) all packed in a clearly lighter and fresher frame, with less fat. For me these wines are clearly ahead of all second string Sauternes like Rieussec, Suduiraut, Climens (to be fair, Chappaz’ wines cost 2 to 3x as much). Stylistically close(r) to a German Riesling Trockenbeerenauslese or a young Kracher Scheurebe. The winner of the two was the Marsanne which showed better freshness and elegance.
