  • Decanted for an hour, which tamed the tannins - this is a wonderful wine! Marinated lamb chumps on the bbq (olive oil, chopped mint, thyme amd parsley) with sautéed mushrooms- the wine is big, but doesn’t get in the way. “Silky tannins “ describes it well - beautiful, non-demanding fruity flavors. Probably would pair with many other meals!

  • Blackish red in the glass. Red bell pepper nose. White pepper, pomegranate, cherry candy on the tongue. Lively acid, nicely balanced with medium tannin after a 2 hour decant. This is really delicious, glad I purchased a half case after Eric Asimov’s recommendation. Goes great with pizza or I’m sure any red pasta dishes.

  • Day 1-3: Dusty black berries, baked sweet potato, blackbeans, ash/clay. Aromatically low toned/short with slight vividness of fresh berries. Texturally ripe tannin of medium++ weight melts in mouth like a baked potato again. Medium acidity. No outstanding taste/flavor component but having good persistence / overall structure. Clean without unnecessary oak.

Day 7: staying fresh, gained additional layer of black raspberry, now aromatically more balanced.

Might pair nicely with any dishes using the kick of deep-fried bacon. Expected more from this producer / $20 price for montepulcuano d’abruzzo, but still enjoyable.

  • Medium ruby color. Serious funk on the nose... the fruit is black cherry in the background to wet mushroom and barnyard. Body and mouthfeel is medium with a medium finish. Acid lays low; tannins more pronounced. It opened up a bit after a day, but not sure the structure is there to develop too much more.
