Community Tasting Notes (6) Avg Score: 95 points

  • Opened, decanted, and drank. This should have been decanted hours in advance. We didn’t do it justice

  • 10 hours of slox-ox prior to serving into Zalto Burgundy glass (“Flower” day): Pale ruby with fine deposits.

Sweet florals, bramble red berry and bright cherry fruits. Unique medicinal. Lots of fine white spices. Highly finessed.

Still a lot to go with many layers to unfold.

95 points easy and can be 95-96 points next round.

Second round: more about keeping this round.

  • After double decanting still totally closed. Very disappointing. I was thinking about a fake bottle. But after 30 minutes in the big Riedel Sommelier glasses it startet to develop incredible complex and intriguing flavors. Still some raspberry and mulberry lots of truffle black chocolate fresh mushroom and cedar wood. Full bodied with elegant present tannins and super long finish. I think i have to find a bottle for my 70. Birthday 🎂😉🍷

  • Fantastic bottle. Decanted 3 hours before taking it to the restaurant. Medium red color. Tasted in a flight of 58/61/67. Slightly deeper red color than the 58 but slightly lighter than the 67. Amazing consistency between the three bottles. This had leather, soy, umami, tar, cherries and had a sweetness of the fruit that was really nice. Like all great Bartolos this had a perfume that leaped out of the glass and offered as much if not more pleasure than drinking the wine. Sweet red fruits, sweet cherries and tons of depth and complexity to both the nose and the palate. Amazing wine. 95-96

  • Opened a bottle from my cellar - perfect levels and cork (original) and decanted for 2-3hrs. On opening it had fantastic power in the month and seemed to need some air (but not lots, not too much tanin). However it seemed to loose the power after 2hrs. We finished the bottle in 30 mins and it didn't really shine to be honest. Perhaps it needed longer? Very good, but not excellent on this showing. Next time drink at home and take notes from opening for 5hrs. Am sure there is more upside here....
