Decades of Decadence - x4s: VA and graphite, with some roses, raisin and cassis - a full on nose but very good! Shows plenty of powerful sweet fruit, but also has some charm about it. There is a little oak that still sticks out, but I'm confident the fruit should outlast it.

Rich, perfumed nose of raspberry, paprika, musk, lavender, star anise, and shoe leather. Palate is light-bodied and tartly acidic, but shows incredibly intense sweet fruit flavours: raspberry, blackberry, star anise, black mustard, and coriander seed, with milder notes of eucalyptus, cranberry, and rose petals. Sensational.

Best's Great Western Dinner with Justin Purser (The Tea Room, City Wine Shop, Melbourne): Subject to some bottle variation. The glass I was poured was dominated by an aroma of eucalyptus and menthol, whereas my neighbour's was much more restrained and more 'earthy' in a way. Justin explained that over one side of these treasured rows there is a planting of eucalyptus trees. So it's hard to see it as a fault in that case, more a character of the wine. But a dominant character at that. I gotta say, this wine drinks more like a 5-8 year old Shiraz than a 20 year old one. Loads and loads of primary fruit still there with dashings of white pepper and camphor, cooking spice and vanilla bean. Immense staying power, 60 second finish. Outstanding, but I'm of the opinion we might possibly have had this a bit too young. I genuinely think it has the mileage to go another 10 years, at least.

Aussie WIMPS Lunch at The Ledbury (The Ledbury, London): Took a while to open up. Super tannins. Quite tight still, probably needs 10 more years to peak. Highly structured wine, savory notes, dark fruit all intermingled very well.

From magnum purchased on release. Excellent storage conditions.
No formal notes. Wine is still going strong, nice fruit and colour. No need to rush if you have some, but in a very nice place.
