Bright ruby with a garnet rim. Needed a bit of air to blow away the cobwebs. The same old plums, cherries, meat broth and Earth as per my previous tasting. Good balanced palate with medium acidity, smooth powdery medium tannins and a medium body. Very smooth but lacking in complexity. Hoping the 2007 will be more complex.

Ruby with a garnet rim leading to relative muted nose with caramel, burnt toast and plums in the background. Elegant with firm tannins, but lacking excitement and complexity.

Clear deep ruby, ruby edges. Clean nose of cherries, plums, earth, leather and a background of roast meat. Reminds me of a Tuscan wine somehow (without the tea notes). Medium body, balanced, meatbroth and rich cherry fruit on the midpalate with sour cherry acidity. Very nice.

Vue du Monde pairing dinner (Melbourne, Australia): Interesting choice of wine by the sommerlier. Reddish brown colour, interesting berry / cherry, coconut and earth flavours. The palate was sweet, but had good fresh drying acid and fine, powdery tannins. Impressive structure, and a pretty nice finish as well. Certainly a wine of some quality.

Still alive and kicking and enjoyable. Earthy and spicey with an acidic mineral streak. Got some cloves and tobacco. Didn’t notice any tannins.
