Opened a 3L double magnum bottle, 2004 vintage, gifted to me from the winery in 2007.
The cork was dried out and fell into the bottle upon inspection, December 2020. I had neglected to sufficiently rotate the bottle, causing the cork to crumble, I believe. It had remained in its wooden case for years. Thus, I took the opportunity to decant and enjoy it.
Thankfully, the wine was excellent! At peak maturity too. I disagree with the assessment of the last individual that opined on the 3L, but to each his own :)
Plum immediately detectable on the nose, with Vanilla along with it. Quite prominent tannins and Sumac spice notes. Finish is long, with tomato and Orange lingering on the palate.
Wine isn't the most balanced, slightly acidic for it to be called a Grand Vin, but is certainly one of the better Ontario wines I have tasted. Paired incredibly well with roasted vegetables, but I broke out a lovely Comté cheese which complemented it nicely.
Will be on the lookout for more outstanding wines from this winery!

Opened this rare large 3L bottle over Christmas dinner with family and friends. Popped and poured into decanter. Since this was a blend of Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Gamay, Malbec, Merlot, Petit Verdot and Syrah, you'd think it'd be at least somewhat fruit forward and interesting. Nope... unless you're comparing to other Ontario (Canada) dry reds.
Medium tannins, thin fruit, low complexity, weak structure not atypical of Ontario dry red wines. However, it's still better than ~95% of Ontario dry reds. Price is $45 CDN for a 750mL bottle but you can find better $15 reds elsewhere making the Stratus (like most Ontario dry wines), bad QPR.
If you have bottles, no need wait, I don't see this wine getting any better. Drink now and hurry!

Drank this at Fairway in NYC with friends. It was pinot noir in color. A bit tannic. It got a little better as the evening went on. Drinkable, but nothing special.

Decent red. One-dimentional, but decent fruit dominated by soft oak. Good red from NOTL, but not worth the $$.
