Nose shows strong notes of jasmine, elderflower, and lemongrass. Palate is full-bodied and heavy, but dry. Flavour of lime cordial, with notes of honey and struck match.

Slightest of green tinge, very subdued nose (read nothing on show), in the mouth it’s reasonably full, limes about the only flavour I could pick up, with residual sugar balancing out the tingly acidity. This is not the Drumborg Riesling of past vintages - obviously a shift in winemaking (lees broadening the palate for starters) - and the once trademark searing acidity is nowhere to be seen. Whilst it’s a very well made and enjoyable quality wine, I wish they’d stuck with what has been a classic style for a long time now, as opposed to chasing a “friendlier’ wine, reminiscent of Tasmania more so than Drumborg - and unfortunately much less expressive overall. Like I said, a quality, friendly wine, but if this is the new style I won’t be buying it.

Surprisingly rich and complex for a current vintage. Not showing the austerity common for many vintages of the Drumborg, which many never lose. Also saw the 2008 and 2009 in the lineup. A much more exciting wine than these, which will always be lean. A few years will see this rich and complex, with that Drumborg sweetness in a wonderful, round context, yet still have the acid.
