  • Color: dark ruby, violaceous notes and a little smidge of brick
Nose: ripe blue fruit, leather, chocolate, toffee and vanilla, grilled rosemary, baking spices, an unmistakeable note of green bell pepper. Very intense and vibrant, just opened the frutti di bosco scent pervades the room
Palate: lovely grippy medium-high tannins and medium-high acidity. Full body, texturally thick. Confirms the nose with a note of juniper
Finish: medium with a beguiling bitterness

Huge wine, mature but with a lot of verve in the structure. Can for sure go another 5 years minimum. Every time one puts the nose in the glass, one gets a different set of notes. Beautiful. Had with duck, was great. Super on the p&p, room temp

  • Mmm wonderful! Big bodied, glorious sweet blackberry and cassis. Mouth coating satisfaction. There are tertiary notes of leather and underbrush, while still beingvery primary. Structure is great too, plenty of lift and tannin here. Real crown pleaser, while giving plenty for the sophisticated. Long complex. Drinking perfectly now, think it will carry on for years yet.

  • Damn...this is good! Black cherry, blackberry, and black raspberry fruit up front. Very elegant wine right now with floral notes, baking spice, creamy milk chocolate, fresh herbs, and toasty oak. Smooth tannins with an incredibly long finish. At 18 years of age this is in a great drinking window right now but no rush on this one. Glad I have more.

  • Dinner in London (78/90 Chevalier; 73 GL; 73 BVGdlT; 04 Schrader; 05 Kutch) (Greens in St. James): In a very quiet stage right now. It was particularly shy at first and, whether it was the conversation or the air, finally started to show its stuff. The aromatics, when unmuted, were quite lovely with deep black fruits, toast and baking spice. It had a hint of herbs, but it was in no way green at all. Medium-bodied, it added weight with air, and, while the fruit was somewhat overwhelmed by the tannins at this point, it was nonetheless elegantly structured and expertly put together. All the pieces seemed in place and, once the tannins let this go, it will be lovely. It probably could have used 24 hours of decanting.
