91 Points I have been tasting chiantis for about a year now, trying to suss out the style, and they have been mostly meh to sometimes disappointing or confusing. I thought maybe I am just not someone who will ever like Chianti.
Ironically, -after a few disappointing $30-45 vintages- I found one I genuinely like enough to give a 90+ rating to, and it turns out to be a non-classic, non-riserva $14 bottle. I have only one of these bottles, and it had been in my cellar for a couple years now, languishing forgotten. I would have been happy if there were more down there. Alas.
I decanted for 45 minutes before pouring the first glass. This is just a pleasing, nicely balanced wine with cheerful cherry notes in abundance, a nice lashing of leather at the end, and some herbaceous elements throughout. It went very well with vodka penne, and is now stepping quite pretty post-prandially on its own.

August 11, 2022: Drank upon immediate opening, and questioned if it had gone bad. Had slightly effervescent quality, seemed odd. Really need to let this one aerate or breathe for a minimum of 45 min for best experience! Smoothed out and more rounded flavor.

Decanted two hours before dinner, this is a perfect everyday Chianti, pleasing and savory and a good match for all but the biggest meals. Savory and sappy. Excellent QPR.

Excellent, as with previous bottles, but it needs a lot of air to show its stuff. Save a few for the future !
