Casual and Great Domaine Lafarge Tasting (Chez Winefool): 95/03/07/09/11. Beautifully mature, layered and complex aromas of earthy cherry fruit, toasted herbs, and mushroom. The palate is nuanced yet still fresh, seamless and balanced. Smooth, layered finish. A strong 1995.

Impressive. Still very youthful and slightly tight. Really lovely sweetness of fruit, although a hint of caramel. Great balance. More backbone and structure than other volnays I have drunk, perhaps a reflection of the reputation of this plot. Overall, enjoyable.
Full colour. Gently mature. Soft, fruity, fairly sweet, good if still-evident tannins. No great length, but more-ish and pleasant. Perhaps it has further to go, but no crime to drink it now. None of the harshness of the 1999 Volnays at this juncture.

Lovely fruit. Fine raspberry and almost strawberry notes. Still lovely acidity and a smooth long finish. Still has another decade of life. Just starting to open.

Drinking Some Great Lafarge as an Hommage to Becky Wasserman (The Winefool - Chicago IL): In 95/03/07/09/11 vertical. Mostly mature red cherry and berry with perfectly integrated tannins, which isn't common for many 1995s. Some charming herbaceous notes are a fun nuance. Good weight and length.
