dinner after my birthday (Il Corso): Another very evolved nose at first with beef broth, leather and sandy soil tones dominating the nose. With time some dark notes emerge; a bit of candied strawberry fruit, porcini notes and maybe a touch of chalk. Round if a touch soft in the mouth with a good, old school austerity keeping this feeling fresh. Really a lovely little wine with a bit of a gritty feel to it and a short finish which highlights the spicy red plum fruit which is a bit simple.
