  • PnP: found this at the bottom of a bin in the cellar. This is so much better than one I had two years ago. A bit thin compared to the '16 but makes up for it with elegance.

I would have to say this is in a lovely place. Perfumed with wild red berries, mulberry, strawberry compote, and wintergreen with nuances of saline, balsa wood, and licorice yet it always brings you back to the red/black fruit. The palate is elegant with something a bit missing in the midpalate. The finish is lively and rather long and leaves a residue of fine grained tannin that you don't notice on the sweet attack. This needs light fare like grilled chicken or vegetables but I imagine it can stand up to some heat so spicy fish tacos might work. (Enjoying it on its own at the moment.) It can probably stand to go another couple years but it's rather good now.

  • Crimson in color. 14.9% ABV. Killer nose of red fruits, anise and pepper. Medium body with medium acidity. Tremendous purity of fruit. Cherry, raspberry, blood orange and pepper on the palate. Exceptional length on the finish. I don't think I have had a Zinfandel from Peter Franus for over 20 years. My mistake. Seriously good Zinfandel. Best over the next 2-3 years.

  • Drank the last of my 6 bottles. This was a very good wine, but none of them bottles was outstanding. All in the 88-89 range. I was hoping for more.

  • Fell a little flat. Not much too it.

  • Mount Veeder zin from Brandlin Vineyard. Medium violet hue with a ruby red rim and slow sagging legs. Dense aromas of black and red berries, black cherry, vanilla creme, cigar box and smoke. Bold and full-bodied on the palate with sturdy acidity and polished tannins. Alcohol is noticeable but not a deterrent. Flavor notes resemble the nose but certainly don’t resemble your typical zin... much more like a cab. A rich mouthfeel transitions in to a long, juicy finish.
