New Zealand Trip; 2/10/2024-2/24/2024: Dark ruby. Bottle funk and bacony notes that blew off to show black fruit and cooler menthol. Medium weight with strikingly long clay base. Strict black fruit, excellent acidity, and firm tannins. Rather serious and backward right now, quite different from the “cheery cherry” of many of the Pinots we’ve had over the past few days. I probably would have guessed France if blinded.

NNT wine club, June 2023: Maturation comparison (Brisbane): So much more fruit power and concentration than the Bests from the previous flight. Quite a red fruit profile with tart raspberry and sour cherry. Some herbaceousness. Alcohol seems a touch hot? Enjoyable now but surely wants time.

Still very young but opened up in decanter. Nice balance with ripe cherry but tart raspberry and plum. Lots of tannin. A bit lighter weight than I was expecting from Dry River, which I think of as very dense Pinot, but maybe this will build with time.
Definitely give it years, just opened 1 to get a sense of it. Score definitely has potential to go higher with time.
