  • This wine needed days to open, it is so closed now. The 1st two days it was very unbalanced and acidic ( though quite fruit forward).
I put the cork back in for the first day and refrigerated for two more. While most American red wines would be thrown away at this point, this one finally opened up.
While still tanic, it was smooth, balanced, dark fruit, tar, slight brambles, some leather.
That is the wine I thought I was buying. For God’s sake, keep it for another 3 to 8 years and treasure it.

Pleasant nose, decent and pleasant finish.

  • Beautiful deep ruby red color. On the nose, red fruits, cherry, cranberry, graphite, pencil shavings, chocolate, and tobacco. On the palate, the flavors match the nose. Dry, medium body with medium acidity and tannins. Smooth, medium finish. This wine has complexity, good structure and is well balanced, good Rioja. We'll buy it again.

  • Spice, cloves, black and red fruits, dried herbs, yoghurt, lactic, some oak

Great acidity drives the wine, with spice, fruit, and integrated oak... nothing extraordinary but it has some earthy notes and that savory touch of old school Rioja... it is a good blend of modern and old school I believe...

Food Wine , still young I reckon... give it 3+/5 more

Unsure to rank and mark it 88/90

    WSET Dip note

    Med Ruby

MIOA, black fruits, dried herbs, spice, cloves, black fruits, yoghurt, lactic, coconut (American oak), earth, ...

Dry, M+ acidity, high alcohol, med+ tannins starting to integrate and savory, mde+ body, M+IOA of .... spice ... M Finish, over a fresh tannic structured wine.

The wine is Very Good, with M+ IOA on the palate showing more fuit upfront than on the nose, some secondary spicy notes and a start of evolution on tertiary earthy notes. It shows enough complexity, M+ acidity and Body to be at that level. It is lacking a little finesse and more over length to be outstanding. At this stage the wine is already pleasant and balanced with good fruit intensity. It has a solid backbone and is suitable for bottle aging. It will soften its tannins and show more tertiary character over a few years of cellaring.

  • Good Rioja, although more subtle than most. Quite soft. Decent QPR around $15.
