  • Vinous Italy Icons with Eric Guido (Feb 2024, NYC): Blood nose. Fresh sandalwood finish. Hard to score, at least at this stage. 93?

  • I have drank 3 btls of Madonna delle Grazie so far and they never disappoint. The only disappointing part is that its still too young to drink. The 2016 vintage still need a min of 3 yrs.

I decant it for 2 hrs this time..same as last time and the nose was just fantastic. It was very well balanced with nice tinch of earthy minerals, cherries and liquorice.

  • Opened for 4 hours. Color is ruby. On the nose: Cherry, rose and forest floor. On the palate: Cherry, rose, licorice, forest floor, orange peel and more sour cherry on the finish. Dry tannins very evident. This is a seriously great bottle of wine. It’s to young but already great.

  • Decanted this for 2 hrs, the nose just started to come out. Strong fruity nose and it has mineral and berries pallette.
Still a tad too young to open but alas, i owed someone this bottle but have no choice but to open it while its still young.
    I will re-visit it after 2025

  • Opened at Drogeria Franci in Montalcino, at dinner so we gave the wine no time to breathe. It’s Ruby red in color, also it’s cold now as it’s winter in Italy so the wines smell is not opening quickly, early scents of limestone and very subtle red fruits. The mouthfeel is first thing that floors me about this wine. The interaction of minerality and tannis are intertwined so seamlessly the two together create something new. This new experience takes place on top of a blanket of the most velvety fruit sensation I have experienced.
After the doe meat dumpling and after about 30 minutes the mineral smells have disappeared and been replaced by black fruits and purple flowers. Now the tannins, acid and fruit are fully integrated and persist for a long and very balanced finish. This wine is exciting and was the best wine of this trip to Montalcino.

One hour later this wine has evolved, now it presents some black pepper and the wine drinks in a balanced and powerful fashion, however now I taste what the wine can be what the wine can be in about 5 or 6 years. I hope I can find another bottle somewhere.
