Medium ruby red in color. Full, forward & attractive nose of red fruit aromas of cherries, strawberries & plums with overtones of earthy/dusty & floral notes, herbs, minerals, spices & a hint of cedar in the background. Medium bodied with a good concentration of well balanced & smooth textured, plush, ripe fruit flavors of red cherries, strawberries & mulberries with herbs, earthiness & minerals. Lingering finish. Drinks quite well at present with decanting & extended airing but should develop further with additional aging. Very good QPR when found at discount.

Overall: classic chianti Classico that has started to resolve into something special
Appearance: garnet, translucent, fairly dark; showing earthtones near the edges
Nose: evolved quite a bit over several hours; opened with classic red fruit (cherry, cranberry) but also quite a bit of blackberry and plum; after a few hours there was an unmistakable coffee aroma that showed up along with some leather. The tertiary notes are starting to appear.
Palate: tannins are medium, acid is medium. Profile is earthy and fruity, but leaning towards earth. Fruit is darker - plum and blackberry notes, dark cherries. Coffee does not come through on the palate but there are subtle spice (anise, clove?) and chocolate notes there.
Finish: goes on forever, pleasantly dry, slightly green stemminess but not bitter; acid makes my mouth water quite a bit even though it has probably lost some edge with ~4 years in bottle

More earthy than a typical Chianti . Good drinking wine. Goes with almost anything .
