A dense nose of umami, dark berries, meat glaze, soy, preserves — feels tightly wound. The palate is ripe and rich with dark fruit, meaty notes, hints of smoky herbs, it sort of gives way in the mid-palate to slightly brighter fruit and baking spice. Medium+ acid keeps enough of the ripeness in check.
Definitely too soon to drink this, feels too tight. I like it, but it lacks a little bit of specificity — maybe that will come with time.

Cassis, dark cherry, dark plum, quite ripe, borderline jammy, classic savory nuance in the form of olives, bacon fat, cured meat, herbes de provence, nice blue flowers too. Full and dense on the palate, layers of very ripe fruit, rather tannic but very fine and smooth, this is already pretty velvety. Long finish is mainly fruity, but there's plenty of typical cool climate Syrah character too. Primary today, but pleasant and complex, will develop positively for at least 5 years, probably 15+.
