Takes some air to get going and really it is with food, the chicken with potato puré and red wine sauce, that it really shines. It has some structure for sure, more a baby Brunello than what some rosso’s are - and that is for both good and bad. I quite like the fresher, more red fruited rosso, but then again you are getting a pretty serious wine here. More darkly mineral and herbal and speaking of a more southern Brunello, this also has body. Might do well with a few years rest, but then again it didn’t do too well over night in the fridge (not terrible, just typical oxidised and tired like most red wines IMO).

Xmas eve pizzas. PnP, but this really needs a decant, as it was a bit reserved at first. This is a elegant wine that has a bit of a serious side, punching above the Rosso designation. This doesn't have the casual feel of the avg. chianti classico. More structured, darker fruit, and coiled but ready to blossom in a few more years.

A bit young and therefore a bit disappointing. Unformed fruit, fairly tannic. Decent structure but without depth or complexity... though I do see some potential for an interesting wine once this is properly mature (4-5 more years?).

At 14% abv I was expecting something quite spirity. Instead after being in the decanter for an hour, it opened up into this red cherry, but dark, flowing brooding Montalcino. Tannins soft and finely integrated. Long flavour. Good acid. Almost cherry with this chocolate coating. This is a lovely wine.
