  • 9 Rieslings - 6 Dry 3 Off Dry: Wine three, this initially started out with much more citrus and a hint of complex sugar/honey, with some herbs in the background. As it warmed up/opened up I was mostly getting a distinct dill note which is always really intriguing to me when you get riesling with herbs, I had one which had horseradish notes. Initially my WOTN, but retasting towards the end of the night I found it overwhelmed by the dill and it lost some complexity, definitely keep it more chilled.

  • Nine Rieslings, Mostly Dry, with Seven DC Doods (DeeCee Columbia Heights): Gold. Bit closed down aromatics but eventually yields some tropical fruit and toast. Palate is rich, with barrel notes of caramel and vanilla on top of some ripe nearly red fruit notes. Acid is sneaky here as it is not in the forefront but surely is there give. The overall balance of the wine.

This was quite divisive in a bunch of dry rieslings, but several of the group remarked on how much they liked it on its own… as “really very good white wine”… as sentiment I would agree with. If looking for German kabinett, do not come here!

  • As others have noted, this is an interesting take on Riesling. I presume this went through malolactic fermentation or extend aging on the lees, as the mouthfeel was rather round, more like a Chenin blanc than a Cali Chard in my opinion. There were shades of Sabelli's 2018 Marsanne as well. Some dry or bruised apple on the finish. Round and tart at the same time.

It was terrific with Thai chicken breast and sweet potatoes in a mild coconut yellow curry sauce.

Set your expectations for a non-traditional white field blend and you will be satisfied.

  • Popped and poured. Some slight petrol and reductive notes. Sour. Citrus fruit. Limes? Some interesting lift. A different style than I am used to with German Rieslings. Very nice.

  • BD purchase last year, 55 degrees. No audible pop from the cork but wine seems intact. Distinct golden color, some green hue. fairly heavy legs. Definitely has the look of a full bodied wine.

Nose of peach, lemon, a light petrol. Petrol aroma grows with air. On palate, the wine is overbalanced in favor of toasty/oaky notes. Agree with other reviewers that this has the mouth feel of a Cali chard. Really creamy. I would prefer more acidity and while fruit comes out mid palate it is quickly overwhelmed by the oak/toasty so it’s hard to enjoy it. Aftertaste is fairly short.

I intend to pair with a lemon basil pasta with fennel, onion, sun dried tomato and I think it will be good for that. On its own, not my preferred style.
