2000 BROGAN CELLARS RUSSIAN RIVER VALLEY PINOT NOIR- made by Burt Williams` daughter Margi who has establish her own identity as a winemaker having learned well from her father; I just revisited the 1999 and found it to be stellar so, that enticed me to also re-visit this vintage; as with the 99`, I decanted it and observed significant sediment as well as experiencing numerous shifts in the aroma and taste in the first few minutes; the colour was a dark pure crimson; the first aroma was of minerals and then in a few seconds some spice, cinnamon and sassafras; later on one some blueberry and blackberry showed up; the taste profile was more of red cherry and black cherry along with the cinnamon spice accents that persisted throughout; this is so tasty and still youthful and vibrant; it`s full bodied, has rich flavours and a great mouthfeel; the hallmarks are the wonderful notes of cinnamon and spice; righteous juice.

Although slightly past its prime the 2000 Brogan Russian river Pinot noir was delicious. Medium body, medium alcohol with a brickish color. The nose still has fresh raspberries aromas poking out from earthy loam and used paperbacks. The wine still exhibits an energetic acidity and sexy texture. The reserve that was enjoyed about 6mo ago exhibited greater complexity and concentration and was probably in the prime of its drinking window. It is only in comparison that this wine seems deficient if slightly elderly.
