  • Fine matured pinot, predictably reminiscent of William Selyem with sour cherry, good acidity and well resolved tannins. Very enjoyable.

  • 2nd bottle in 2 months and this one did not live up to the 1st one. It was still nice in its own way but I found the structure to be completely one sided towards the cherry cola side. Still a lot of acidity as previously noted, but it lacked the meatiness. But it was also had with some other very strong pinots in a line up, so this may have played a factor in my assessment.

  • OUTSTANDING bottle of pinot. Aromas of cherries, cola, spice and smoked meats. On the palate this wine comes full force with mouth-watering acidity but with enough body to let you know there is a lot of life left in it. Beautiful black cherry finish with a hint of earthiness that is a little intriguing. Just goes to show even perceived suspect vintages can produce great wine to those who now what to do with the grapes.

  • The Finest Burgundy Domains: The Classical 2004 (Caveau): Pleasant dark cherry fruits with smoky and savory undertones. On the sweetish spectrum but not overly. You still can tell it's a new world but there are quite strong appearances of dry earth and dusty mushrooms. Quite long on the finish. It grows on you the more you drink.

  • Popped by Alexis at Fine Wine Gallery, brought the half bottle out for lunch at Aston's Prime. Not half bad. Deep coloured wine, going to garnet and brick. Rather old world feel with a new world twist. Nose was musky with a meaty undertone, but with slightly sweet dark cherries layered over the more savoury aspects. More sweet dark cherries on the palate with a touch of cola, but with chalk and flint notes, and quite a bit of savoury meat and smoke tones. Nice lengthy finish.
