  • This has really changed since my first review. Now we have a much more rounded feel on the palate, tannins have softened and the color is a murky deep purple. A lot of sediment and the alcohol hit me kind of hard this time. Plush mouthfeel with good concentration, but the mineral is gone and the youthful edge and vibrance is too.

  • Decanted one hour then back into the bottle to take to HMCs for dinner. So a 1 hour double decant. Aired out over another 3 hours before and during dinner.....dark purple in the glass, nose of dark berries, a little forest floor but not much else. Palate has good weight, dark red/black berry fruit, a hint of graphite. 93 for sure. Later in the night approaching 4 hours of air this one gets more juicy and develops a nice milk chocolate on the palate. Excellent acidity backing it all up. This is a very nice entry level Mark Herold wine from a very good vintage and certainly can go for many more years.....borders on a 94 for me by the end of its milk chocolatey night!.....

  • Beautiful wine with a mix of fruit from Oakville, Coombsville and Atlas Peak. Dark, spicy, roasted coffee, licorice and tobacco as the main notes. Fresh black plums and cherries, hints of chocolate and floral notes. Nice acidity with powdery tannins, good finish.

  • Was a bit surprised by the dryness and streak of minerality running through the wine. There's 15.5%abv but it doesn't feel like it, very well integrated. Teeth staining, glass staining blue fruit, loved it. I'd buy again.

  • Big, bold, glass-staining cab. Dark fruit and fresh cut wood aromas. Blackberry puree, baking spice, with juicy cherry notes. Chalky tannins. It started to sing after 90 minutes in a decanter.
