The medium- to full-bodied wine was medium ruby in colour and threw some sediment. It offered violets, dark fruit, plum, coffee, cocoa, spices, cinnamon, clove and green notes on the nose and palate, with medium to medium-plus acidity, medium-level tannin and good length. The wine seemed slightly underripe and thus lacked the smoothness you would typically expect, but it has aged reasonably well and we kind of liked the mild angularity and greenness in combination with the plummy fruit.
