Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 91.7 points

  • Big nose of clove and cassis. Concentrated, fleshy and slightly jammy dark fruit with mild tannins and a medium finish. Compared to the other notes I’m going with starting to fade but still very drinkable albeit not my style. I’m not typically a Cali Cab fan, more old world bordeaux, so my palate is likely tainted.

  • everything that KingCab said, since I'm sure he has had many more aged napa cabs than me. I'm just going to bump his score a few points since I thought this wine was sublime. Beautiful fruit on the front balanced nicely with some light acidity and tannin. 2nd vintage of Bisou I've had and will continue to seek them out. going strong but the tannins are starting to fade a bit, so drink over then next few years

  • Dark. Nose of pure cassis with some blackberry notes. This rolls onto the palate with grace and pizzazz; A very interesting Napa Cab unfurls with tremendous density. There is a nearly imperceptible note of menthol on this which is where I find the interest today. The overall mouth-feel is of a medium weight and the balance deft; I am finding perfectly resolved tannins and lilty acidity. Whenever I experience a Cabernet like this, I feel blessed. This wine epitomizes a perfectly aged Napa Cab in my estimation; we spend our lives on a search for something sometimes not really knowing what and when wines like these cross our paths we seem to feel vindicated in our spent energies. This is showy without being showy if you get my drift. This has the pure black profile with notes of worn leather, warm sassafras and espresso bean. Finish is long and true to everything I spoke of. A perfect expression that I am 100% sure would make every iteration of Napa Cab drinkers crack a smile, and yes, especially you old world 'remember when' guys
One more thing I want to add: if you think Thomas River Brown wines can't represent, you are seriously mistaken. This one does in a big way so get over yourselves.

  • An excellent lighter Bordeaux style cab. Peppery nose. Decanted for two hours which really opened it up. Still a few years left in it regardless of what the drinking window shows. Not a big bomb cab, just smooth and delicious.

  • Drank at a magnum tasting across 3 hours. Sitting perfectly in its drinking window with plenty of life left. Black and blue fruit with a nice cedar, spice and oak layer. This was the top wine of the night.
