Leftovers from a tasting two days ago. This continues to develop in new directions. It has dark aromas that seem to be mineral, spontaneous fermentation-like, and all sorts of other things. Very complex, always distinctive and great stuff.

Wonderful again, even with virtually no air. Perhaps it is the texture, nearly like an orange wine, or like chablis when its minerality is like a texture.

Decanted. Took about 1.5h to be fully open. Now 2h after decant and about cellar temp. Lovely aromas of just ripe gala apples, Meyer lemon, nice minerals, some herbs and even some flowers. Palate w tart apples, Meyer lemon, lovely minerals, green herbs. Med-full body with a bit of viscosity. Excellent acids that's rounded out by the fruit. Excellent depth and concentration. Lovely moderately long finish finish of minerals, tart apples, and grapefruit pith. This is really young but possibly one of the best young Molsheims I've had going back to 2012 vintage. I suspect that this will be outstanding at age 10 and beyond.

Compared to my first bottle, this was immediately pleasing. The combination of notes of spontaneous fermentation and riesling fruit and something savoury was most enticing. Complete in the mouth, all elements in balance. Its textural beauty even resemebled some of the really good Italian whites aged sur lie and perhaps a little bit macerated. Just a really good showing - and what I hope for in BattenfeldSpanier's Mölsheim.
