Had this at the Willamette valley vs the world event at Carlton winemakers studio. Compared against a 2021 aubaine estate Pinot from eola amity hills. Al and I were split. She loved the aubaine for its big fruit and blackberry, I loved the burgundy for it’s almost bubblegum nose and meaty, soy sauce elements. Both delish!

Shy upon opening. Decanted for about 1h. Ripe red cherry, strawberry, underbrush, herbal notes. Silky entry with fresh red and dark berry flavors followed by a peppery finish. Simple yet pleasant.

Opened a 187 ml bottle, screw cap, from the Court of Master Sommeliers as part of a blind wine tasting program. Bottle was off with band-aid notes which I would have thought would be TCA, but I don't think a screw cap can get TCA. Also some really strong mushroom. Maybe it's a one of the worse version of brett, not a mild barnyard which can add complexity and be a good thing. Clear; more garnet than the pale red of cooler burgundies. It had black more than red fruit, tobacco and leather. While the band-aid notes on the nose were moderate, the taste was awful, clearly "corked".

Kinda vapid, but I am having a bad tasting day apparently. Louis Latour apparently upped his contracts across the board to keep going. So they bought fruit, must, what have you. Better on second taste.

Nice elegant Burgundy, lots of good aspects but not tonight.
