  • Burgundy Pinot is out of reach $$ for many of us, but it’s nice to find a semi affordable one just to be able to compare & contrast with domestic. This seemed to be a tad on the lighter side, but not too much too. Varietally correct. Would have liked a bit more depth and complexity, seemed generic but not in a bad way.
Can still find mass-produced Pinots from Russian River Valley that are a click or two better. That said, this was quite enjoyable.

  • Inoffensive but nothing special. Transparent ruby in color. Nose is some non descript Pinot funk. Some spice, red fruit, animal on the palate. Bitter. Not a whole lot going on. It’s ok for the money. Weak representation of the village but understandable given the low price.

  • Overall: first time tasting this in a couple years, I remember this being very bright with lots of red fruit and acid. This is slightly toned down and more earthy notes are coming through. Still pretty good considering price vs place of origin, but don’t expect incredible complexity. I’ll drink my next one in a couple years I think - hopefully some of the bitterness on the finish will settle down.

Appearance: translucent ruby, slight earth tones around the rim

Nose: largely earthy, with soft spice notes; maybe some leather; fairly integrated, with nothing sticking out

Palate: medium-high acid, medium-soft tannins. Candied red fruit, leather, maybe some pipe tobacco

Finish: medium length, pleasantly dry, tannins have some stemmy bitterness

  • Bright fruit, cherry and strawberries with some light earthy notes and a hint of spice. Medium bodied, soft tannins with a nice finish.

  • Sale from CDF, 150CNY.
The aroma is converted between animal fur and mushrooms, both slight.
On the third day, the aroma still showed, and the oxidation degree of tannins improved.
Even if it is not a good manufacturer, there is nothing to disappoint at the village level at this price.
