Six 2019 Sancerres from Pinard and Vacheron (San Francisco): Obvious oak and more pungent aromatics than the Romains. Medium weight, very fluid and harmonious. The mid-palate is dominated by its woody base which blurs the fruit. Average acidity, good late ripe orchard fruit and citrus. Much too exaggerated barrel treatment for me here.

Drinking well with nose of lemon verbena, apple, greens, and glycerol. Nice cut and freshness, Good length with minerals and green apple on a long supple palate. Nice roundness and ready now or maybe a bit more polished in 2-3 years. Fresh.

Organically farmed vineyards. Pale lemon, almost water white with delicate notes of green melon, fig notes, mineral, apple, cut grass and nettle. There is also an orange scent, almost like Semillon is present! The entry is taut, precise and mouthwatering in it acid make-up. The texture is less edgy and more mineral and creamy (lees contact?) with a core of poached pears, peach slices, custard and apple puree. This energetic wine combines elegance with wonderful depth and intrigue showing white flowers and sea salt with a steely resolve. Persistent in the mouth, I loved the lifted elements against the creamy notes and the integrated acidity. A scrumptious, brilliant Sancerre

Pale yellow. Wine had softened and improved from last year. Unripe gooseberry, honey and white flowers. Elegant and smooth. Very well made.

Sharp, bright, unripe gooseberry, with honey. Softer and more accessible than Le Paradis of same vintage at this point in time.
