A little too rich, extracted and fruit forward for me on Day 1. It's still good; just not up to my expectations. I had one glass, re-corked it and hope that it settles down. I will open this again today with a nice decant.
Day 2 was much better. All of the up front "Mike Smith" juiciness subsided and signature notes from Las Piedras appeared.

Part of portfolio tasting at Carter Cellars. These wines are all about power. Heavy fruit and heavy oak throughout. All have a profile that are signature Carter. Used to love these, now find somewhat one-dimensional. Out of the line-up, I found La Bam to be hot and edgy. Time will be good for this one. Others I was with were really glowing about these wines, so likely just change in preference.

Fourth of six wines at Carter and now we're getting serious. Huge nose with red and black fruit which also translates to the palate. Lush mouthfeel with tannins and acidity in balance. Maybe a touch of sweetness. In my notes I wrote fruit bomb, but restrained. Not sure if that makes any sense, but I'm going with it. Nice long finish. A pleasant drink now with huge potential.

Carter Lineup (Envy Wines): 5th wine of the tasting and #4 for score. If this is what is to expect from La Verdad, only better, then I am all in on the Las Piedras vineyard in general. La BAM felt concentrated, rich and full bodied. This had a mixture of red and blue/black fruits with some good minerality to round out the taste. Las Piedras is a vineyard I am really going to pay attention to in the coming years as they have been putting out some great wines there. Very nice. 96+ pts.

Well built but not my style. Black fruit driven to an extreme. Still you and will smooth out over time but will never hit by sweetspot.
