At PNP this was a bit closed and shut down. On day two this was youthful yet approachable. It's hard not to reach for cellar defenders knowing time in the bottle will reward.
A great value now but even more so in the future.
Drink or hold.

Yesterday I saw that six-packs of the 2020 were on sale for 25% off ($29.99/bottle), which was less than I paid for my first six-pack on futures. "Should I buy more?" I wondered. So, seeing the positive reviews here, I cracked open my OWC last night to try a bottle.
I had been pretty dubious about giving a 3.5 year old Saint-Émilion the pop and pour treatment, but this Tour St. Christophe was shockingly ready to drink with just 15 minutes of air.
The wine pours a deep violet color, and is nearly opaque. The nose hints of Merlot, but it's fairly faint. Then from the first sip, the flavor comes on strong. It's very forward, even flirty. The densely packed ripe (but not overripe) fruit is fortunately balanced by enough structure to keep it from being too cloying.
I don't know how this vintage will evolve from here, but it hardly matters, as enjoyable as it is now. I went ahead and bought that second six pack, so I can enjoy its youth while still keeping some for the long haul.
Dark ruby color. Nose is supple/soft, raspberry/red fruit, savory spice, Mexican chocolate, herbs. Mouthfeel is light, but with wonderful bouquet of fruit up front, though lacking complexity. Miid palate is thin and not expressive, short finish. Gets worse with more air. Tasted just after the 2020 Duckhorn Three Palms Merlot. This had an interesting nose but paled in comparison and feels significantly less age worthy.

Upfront dominant fruit on the nose, blackberry, boysenberry, dark fruit. On the palate, fruit dominates, but not over powering. Balanced with complexity.

Every year that has gone by since the Kwok family has taken over this property has shown even greater levels of excellence. I first tasted this estate from the 2014 vintage and every year I have found it to improve on the excellence of the previous vintage. This wine has now evolved from merely excellent to outstanding. It is balanced but also rich and complex. It is a classic merlot driven St. Emilion. As I say with almost every vintage of Tour St. Christophe, it drinks well now and for many years to come. This is probably the best of an incredible 2014-2020 run for Tour St. Christophe. 95+ points.
