Very soft and integrated nose. Probably faded. That said there is a very subtle warmth and richness. Nuances of raspberry, cinnamon, brown sugar. Palate is wonderfully tender. Savory pepper nuances and notes of dried fruit. This wine is a touch past peak but was evidently well tended to. A fine example of a well aged Paso Rhone. Drink up if you have it.

Opened 2 hours prior to dinner. Nose of saddle leather, plum, and a bit of barn. Bright acid and cherry on tip of tongue. Somewhat thin in mid palate but some smoky meat. Nice mineral and some cream on the med-long finish but a bit sharper acid than I would like.

Had this wine with friends for Thanksgiving. It is drinking great right now. The bottle was gone before the turkey made it out of the oven! Perfectly balanced, with hints of caramel, vanilla and touches of oak.

Excellent wine and a fair showing next to the 2000 Esprit de Beaucastel!
