Dinner at Steve & Barb's house. AP#3-04. I absolutely love the wines of Fritz Haag but continue to have trouble figuring out how the 2003s fit into the winery and vineyard profiles. Like other '03 Haags I find a heavy tropical note dominating the wine that I just can't get past. Judgment reserved.

AP# 3 04 Pale color with tiny bubbles. Sulphur on the nose, hint of petrol, white peach, everything is pretty much muted. On the palate, the wine is spritzy with notes of pineapple, the texture is a bit oily in the mouth. Fairly dry and lacks a bit of acidity. I left the empty glass for maybe 20 mins or so and once I smelled it, a nasty smell of ammonia(!!) was present in the glass and it wouldn't go away. I suspect this wine to be in a closed phase right now. I would rather not score this bottle.

Opened for Easter dinner to go with spicy grilled cajun shrimp and brocollini. Yummy! So sad that the stores up here don't carry this.
