Amazing contrast to their champagnes that are complex and layered. This Pinot noir is classic in its simple but supple taste from front to back. Very pleasant bouquet, floral until the leather tannins on your palate prompt your nose to smell the back end leather. These were part of a flight of champagnes and excited everyone by surprising their expectation of the typical champagne wine.

Tasted blind. Quite ripe-fruited on the nose with cherry-driven fruit reminiscent of warm climate Pinot Noir. On the palate full-bodied and thick with a good deal of tannins. Alcohol probably elevated but in check. Quite sticky on the finish, lacks freshness to some extent.

Blind Flights with Boston Dinner Club: Dark and concentrated pinot fruit that expresses a ripe and sunny climate. Sweet pinot fruit, sea breeze, framboise, and a nice balanced palate that has a spherical and large scaled presence. Beautiful earthy spice notes of nutmeg and elegant tannin gives this a nice intensity and versatility that I love.
The wine comes across very much like a high quality Sonoma Coast pinot from a producer like Hanzell or William Selyem. Guesses around that table included Oregon, Sonoma and New Zealand for this wines region.
Chosen specifically for a blind flight with the 2016 Egly Ambonnay Rouge, and it did not disappoint at all. Very educational, and I think champagne reds gained a few fans around the table tonight.
This was quite good but quite earthy as well, ample tannins, slightly rustic, darker. Very interesting, not my fav, but very happy to have tried it. My house birthdays gathering日本人のパーティー

Nice, but very young. Needs more time in the bottle.
