Strong citrus aromas dominate the nose, along with jasmine and other floral scents. On the palate, dominated by lemon and ... grapefruit peel? Flavors are muddled and unattractive. Finish is decently long, but not sure I want those flavors to persist. A friend tried to convince me this was a modern day version of Condrieu, but that is not even remotely the case. Age is not going to help this wine.

Lemon zest and grapefruit on the nose. Not sure what is going on with the palate, it is kind of messy. The finish is a sweet fruit-ish sort of deal. Very unimpressive wine. Maybe age will help, but not holding out much hope.

Initially, lemon, lemon, curd with its pastry crust, and as it warms, more white flower, blossom, peach, peach nectar. Full malolactic fermentation, no oak. Medium-plus acid. 13.7% alcohol, but seems higher. Medium-plus intensity. Full body with a moderately viscous texture.

Flabby, unexciting. For a blasé American style I greatly prefer Alban’s. Curious to see what age brings, though to me this affirms the preeminence of Condrieu.

A pretty average viognier at best, varietally true but only moderately interesting, I expected something more interesting. Good 3- (out of 5)
