Starts a little briary then smooths a bit. Dusty tannins, med-high acidity. Hollow flavor profile, hints of red and blue berry. A little iron comes in as it opens up. One good thing is it is not overly sweet and briary like some Washington. Day 2: much better. Smoothed out, dark fruit profile with iron and leechee, medium body with pleasant dusty tannins. So give it some time in cellar or open ahead and decant.

Dark purple color. Baking spice dark berries on the nose. Medium tannins with more of a tart berry taste. Medium plus on the acidity. I think it needs to lay for a few more years to even out.

Walla Walla Syrah Festival Grand Tasting (Valdemar Cellars Walla Walla): Pášxa and Walls table rocked it tonight. My 2nd favorite at the table by a little bit. Underbrush, violets, blueberries, ripe cherry, pepper and mild smoke. Concentrated effort and long finish. Will drink well through 2035. 93-95.

This deep purple Syrah is a beautiful in color as it is flavor. Blackberry fruit in the forefront mixed with brambly earthiness and balance acidity. I had opened it about an hour before drinking.

Just awful. Easily the worst wine of 2023 for us. Hollow, tannic and nowhere near the quality of any Washington Syrah we have had previously.
