  • Dark ruby-garnet, with clarity. Aromas of plum & black cherry with bay leaf, licorice, fresh herbs and hints of leather. Juicy and succulent on the palate with fresh dark fruit and florals, herbs, hints of anise and crushed stone. Medium bodied, crunchy and buoyant, with taut acid and juicy acidity, closing dry and zesty.

  • Medium dark red color. Grapy, strawberry aroma. Rich fruit with enough acidity to identify this wine as a Barbera.. Medium bodied. Unusually Ripe fruit and good concentration on the palate. Drinkable now, but will improve with another couple of years of aging.
Served at cool room temperature(60-62F) after 45 minutes of decanting.

  • a good wine. it's unremarkable. pleasant, chemical nose, not fruit forward, easy mouthfeel. again pleasant but nothing earth shattering. very mild astringency. ruby color, medium legs. I expected much better from the piedmont.

  • Beautiful nose of dark macerated blackberries and blueberries. This is quite fragrant. fleshy palate of the dark black and blue fruits mentioned with some depth. Some notes of violet, this some some real balance that belies it's price point.
The wine is all mouthfeel and elegance with a bit of brash showiness that I like. The overall balance is truly appreciated and the finish deep, long and pure and interesting. Overall, it's really a crazy thought that a $17 bottle can deliver at such a level.
In my estimation, Italy is producing some of the most interesting and best entry level wines you could ever. This one is perfect for your dinner table and then a walk over to the coffee table to converse over.
