This is a challenging, complex wine, and, for the moment, the analyzing may provide more pleasure than the drinking. Very pale. Muted aromas -- reduction, a flash of matchstick, some pear. Medium weight, moderate acidity, tasting slightly reductive, with rosemary, orange zest, and, as it warms, some spiciness. It was very similar on day two, and then the end of the bottle went surprisingly well with spaghetti carbonara on day 3. This suggests to me that it is better with food and that it will be better with some more bottle age.

Light straw color in glass. Medium plus intensity on the nose. Pear, white flowers and bitter almonds. Light on its feet. Medium plus acidity and complex finish.

See previous notes. Lemon, grapefruit, salt and minerality. Medium plus acidity and finish. Lovely bottle and excellent qpr.

Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting (3/9 Grand Cru Portfolio Tasting, NYC): Over 100 year old vines. High altitude. Nose is waxy and dry; lean but fleshy. Follows on palate. Nice!
