Ordered off the wonderful Deep Cove Chalet wine list. Pristine bottle and cork condition. Aged beautifully. Very fresh. All tertiary fruit development now - dried cherry, black currant jelly. Some tobacco and vanilla spice under the surface. Medium-long finish. Paired well with beef wellington.

We typically want more lush fruit from our merlots but given the age on this one, we knew that probably wouldn't be the case here. And it wasn't. Lots of complexity with earthy flavors. Very enjoyable though I wouldn't hold it much longer.

Cata - Bordeaux Right Bank (Casa Santiago & Sandra): This bottle has aged very nicely. Maybe not developed the notes of the earlier Bordeaux we had but the fruit is still alive and singing. Great subtle bouquet, everything in harmony. Not overdone. Really enjoyed it.

Another Saturday at Knightsbridge - mostly blind (Northbrook, IL): Tasted double blind. Clearly New World, this came across as more Cabernet than Merlot to me as well as most tasters today. Forward black fruit, very fresh for its age. Positive surprise.

This one was lovely; fully mature but still good balance and structure
