  • Brittan’s Gestalt bottling has always tasted a bit more massive to me than the Basalt. Dark fruits, verging on licorice and cassis. Good acidity, and sweet porcelain tannins that hide the midpalate a bit. A touch warm on the finish. Another great bottle of Brittan.

  • From the benchmark '18 vintage. All clone 115 and aged 12 months in French oak around 20% new. A scant 244 cases produced.
    Decanted
Aromas show a savory side with notes of thyme, dhania powder, stone crushed mustard seed along side the notes of black currant, rhubarb, chokecherry, florals, earth, white pepper and hints of pencil box and minerals.
The palate is tightly wound at this stage and showing some serious structure and begging for food. Tannins are masculine and acidity is high and focused. Austere at the moment but should age wonderfully. Flavors show a combination of rhubarb, currant, cherry, herbs, coriander, pepper, florals and mineral that linger through the finish.
