  • Drank as part of a blind tasting
    Absolutely beautiful; electric and linear;
    Undoubtedly riesling; undoubtedly RS on this, despite the 13.5% alcohol; tart as hell
    Really delicious; put on tons of fat after 24 hours open;
    Stuffing to go for years

  • Flabby GG. Svær og fet duft med noe oljete tropisk og samtidig grønn urt. Smør og fat. Blindt kunne man tenkt hvit Bordeaux. Spontangjæret i store gamle fat. Respekt for at denne produsenten går sine egne veier, men jeg har aldri likt stilen til VW og dette har lite med riesling å gjøre. tysker som prøver å være burgunder

  • I accidentally doubled my order so I figured I would try a bottle well before my intended drinking date. These are singular and odd wines in the world of riesling, and while I feel that the oak treatment obliterates much of the zesty, racy electricity that I love in the grape, this is still a potentially delicious wine in its own way. I do think that this needs a lot of time before the creamy and waxy oak notes are integrated and I don’t really want to drink any more of these in their youth. A bit of a gamble in aging these - do they eventually transform into something beautiful?

  • bright lemon color, opulent nose of tropical fruits, pineapple, passionfruit, citrus, steely mineral notes, loads of honeysuckle, on the palate forward and lusty with primary citrus and tropical fruit, bananas, pastry crust and cream as well, on the palate this bears a strong resemblance to a Sauzet or Amiot premier cru white burgundy but on the tail end a firm mineral and lime zest driven finish hint at its Riesling self, as on the nose- the palate is laden with honeysuckle notes, this is a very beautiful and singular wine and I think I can see and appreciate the goal here, but that said- some of what makes Riesling so distinctive was sacrificed for the final outcome, I can envision some very specific instances where this would be a perfect wine for a given setting but this is so unique as to not be for everyone, showing well now and I think also showing its full measure- but it should hold for many years.

    **** as a wine, **+ as a Riesling - now to 2030.
