La Paulée de Los Angeles Grand Tasting (The Fairmont - Santa Monica CA): Walkaround tasting. Wow, this is as impressive as when tasted at Lafon in 2022, but more seamless and accessible. Combination of orchard and stone fruit with savory spice and spring flowers. Layered and complex, this is nearly getting to its peak drinking window. One of today's highlights.

Assessing 2021 Burgundy-La Paulée de Los Angeles Grand Tasting (Fairmont Miramar, Santa Monica): Yellow. Touch of caramel but no oxidative notes. Much more layered and deep than the 2021 Charmes. Sweet bright citrus, some soil, great salinity, and a very long finish. Outstanding wine but at least for the moment, the roundness and amplitude of the year are obscuring the stoniness of this great site. I've got to believe that this emerge over time. This is constituted for the long run.

This is such a powerhouse, with its dense and sappy orchard fruits. It is by no means heavy, carrying zero excess weight and cut by a sharp line of grapefruit acidity. There’s spicy nuance, great volume and presence and a spice laden finish that drives on. Too young now, but the wine’s perfect balance allows you to derive pleasure.

Gevrey 2007 Grand Cru Dinner Preceding by Magical Meursault (Chicago, IL): In young Perrières flight. Broad array of ripe orchard fruit aromas and flavors, well supported with savory spice, peach, and so much energy. Impeccable balance, this is already drinking so well.
