This ripe and fulsome Cabernet blend needs another year or two to calm down, since it offers none of the nuance of this estate's top wines. Similar to the 2016 Db4 at this stage in time, the 2019 is quite forward, with less structure than the 2018. Its raw intensity reminded me more of a Bevan than a Bond, though perhaps this is a function of youth. I doubt that this is worth $175, but it is tasty and promising.
Ruby red in color and full in body, the wine offers pungent aromas of cherry pie, strawberry jam, cocoa beans, and thyme. Flavors of black cherry, raspberry jam, graphite, and anise, with a saturated and dense finish (the kind that gets tiresome after a few hours). Blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petit Verdot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Merlot. 14.9% alcohol. Decant two hours, if not more. 92-93 at the moment, with potential upside in 2025 or later.
