I think it was corked; good fizz for a 10 year old champagne; and some biscuity nose and taste but there was a definite hint of taint. I have one more bottle and hope it is not representative.

Outstanding! Light golden color with small bubbles. Classic Vilmart spicy/citrus/nutty nose, perhaps even with a touch of forest floor lingering in the background. In the mouth: medium-full bodied with lemon citrus, tons of spice, chalk, and a toasty oakiness. Medium-long finish. Drinking beautifully already, but with plenty of opportunity for further growth over the next few years. Decidedly Vilmart in character and a great showing given the rather heinous 2001 vintage.

Superb. Lemon, chamomile, ginger, green apple and honey. Very precise, chalky and detailed, this is a great wine by any measure but a home run to deep centerfield in the difficult 2001 champagne vintage.

At first lemon and citrusy (one other reviewer noted Sherbertty and I would agree) and then bricoche and toast and finally a chablis like wet stone / minerality. Just outstanding and fascinating to drink. Let's hope the bozos I opened it for enjoy it as much as I am!

(Vilmart & Cie Champagne Premier Cru Grand Cellier d'Or) Light yellow color; bright lemon, baked lemon, mineral, poached pear nose; very tasty, poised, tangy, tart pear, mineral, lemon, green apple, lime honey palate with depth and precision; medium-plus finish 93+ pts. (played beautifully off the oysters in our risotto)

Holding well, fresh and lively fruit, but something slightly dirty on the finish.
