(Quinta do Crasto Late Bottled Vintage Port) Unfiltered; bottled 2008. Dark, inky garnet in color and fully opaque, this is a massive young LBV that would pass for Vintage Port in a blind tasting. Accented by aromas of spicy blackcurrant and blueberry, it took a couple of days to show at its best, with abundant dark-cherry and raspberry flavors in an off-dry, full-bodied yet soft-textured profile. The powerful structure is supported by ripe, fine-grained tannins; the finish has a hot streak that was less obtrusive a couple of days later. Enjoy over the next eight to 12 years.
