  • Scented of the joint between fruit and forest. Tense and medicinal. It starts simple and accumulates dramatically. Threaded, reedy tannins expand with flavor. Yellowed spruce, espresso, antique tin. Compact currant skins. Lovely. Drink 2026-2035. 91-95.
finished 40 hours after opening: really intense thrust of flavor on the finish——minty, roasted walnutshell, dried aromatic root. the bouquet is bold as well. 2016 is the leanest and driest Elda I can recall. It is this quality that intensifies the experience of its Nusserhof-ness and Elda-tude. If I had equal amounts, I would probably drink 2017 before 2016. Incipient substance will cause the stretched, almost transparent mid-palate to fill in with time
